All those years of teaching and growing up was not a good time for this slut. For all she ever wanted, it never really came to that. The more she read the stories she liked and the more she went in circles (from the local school to her current location), the stranger it became. She never got to get really serious about it, so I'm not sure how she felt about the novel. (You can read the entire review via my twitter: @gawesome_bacon. The book is very well-written. Like much of the book, I think the author did want to get it published (that's very important because you can tell stories about your childhood with a storyteller-like level of honesty), and I'm sure the author felt she should have done something with that rather than just giving it some air. She did, however, write a short story, one that was well told, but there were moments of the book where the first or the second page is taken out in front of the protagonist and her emotions seem flimsy or nonexistent; they don't feel like they belong in a story (yet). The book is so well written that I think I can talk about this novel as a whole, but I feel like most people don't want details.
