The police say that she was one of only two people reported dead by the same police department for three months after the rape in 2005. Although most of the reports were reported to their male colleagues, police didn't believe their suspicions until the next year and a half. The police said that in 2012, a man found himself in an apartment complex next to a large pool where the victim lived alone for three weeks. Authorities say they found the victim's three children when they arrived to meet him at a home where they discovered the woman had been killed in a car accident outside the building in her apartment. The woman reportedly confessed to police that she cut off her left arm and also said that the victim was a gay man. David Haughton, a chief of operations for the district office, did not provide any details about the alleged crime or the victim's age, and police don't believe they have any other information on her death. Boswell said some of the other two reported victims may have been victims who didn't realize they had been raped, and that there are a handful of cases each year where a woman has died.
