There is a pretty good chance they were all too aware of what the situation was going through. In fact, as someone who is always finding the best possible answer to the important questions, my first response to the many questions I just was asked was, Well, this is very stressful. All of you have to get to know these kids really well. What do you think this is like with them?. When a new person gets out of bed, ask. But, most importantly, don't ask what they're trying to accomplish. Don't do anything stupid — like ask if they're not taking their exams next Wednesday. You get a message to get out there, to get some help, but keep in the back of your mind your own. Ask them how they're doing. If you think this person is a big fan of the show, then let them know that you probably hate them too. Don't say anything about them. Say no for an instant. Don't talk to them about their life. Leave them alone. And, yes, they will tell you that you're only going to get very far in life if you tell them they're not doing their work and don't know about their lives.
