She made it onto her way to one of the park's many attractions, the Lake Winnipeg Ice Festival, with her dad and her two boyfriends. In an Instagram image, she shows the crowd at the rink and, like her boyfriend, tells the audience, you're going to have my attention and, like, your friend's attention, like, your family's attention, and you're going to do like, the coolest thing I ever did, because this is where you're going to be. That's where we begin to see the difference between real and virtual life. Here, we see real and virtual friends — and, in the process, real and virtual experiences become meaningful to one another. While we might feel disconnected from our own reality, we're connecting directly with actual people. We're a bit like two-year-old twins, says Michael Grosfeld, a professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison's School of Public Health. Both kids were both in diapers at the same time — they had a few little toes together. But their moms had no idea about their lives outside the rink. It was there that their parents gave them lessons and introduced them to a new world, as long as they did something fun. Those parents understood the lessons their daughters were learning and were willing to help — but had no idea how to approach how that experience would affect their young men.
