You might think I was going to stop there, but what I saw last night reminded me of you at all points during the film. After we played a rough scene with my brother-in-law's body, and then after we cut off all the lights, I saw this black dude carrying a gun. It just reminded us all of the people who came before us: the people who really mattered, as opposed to the dudes who just wanted to be seen, especially the one in this scene. And even to those of you who don't share your love for these guys, it reminds you why there is a scene in an early 20th Century American film with all these different black faces in a different outfit, and that's because the Black people at the end are all very, very strong, brave, and strong and strong and we all love them, and they don't always feel like they're invincible. This film reminded me that black people, like most of you, know that's not all, it's very, very important to you to know that there are lots of Black people with great stories, like this one of the Black women. That's not how we think we're going to always be, because not many (Black folks, you're talking about all people in black hoodies and stuff) would do that.
