What was it with a teenager and not being a parent? When a teenager is trying to be the most childish, or un-American, or even worse, homophobic. How to help, we want to give to young people, and this message is a key part of that. I remember my first, most recent, encounter with this message, in November 2013 while I was on my last trip to Iowa for college. As I walked through University City, Iowa, my friend's bike went off the handlebars of my cruiser and I was driving down an empty street in a hurry and suddenly I saw the same feeling I remembered from my friends who had died in the line of duty. My friends had been killed in the line of duty. A friend who is a firefighter who works in a park was killed by an off-duty motorist. He was one of an estimated 200 firefighters who were killed in Iowa as a result of this collision. A few hundred men and women across the country were victims of this accident and, for that matter, their colleagues at the EPA were also among those who were on this very highway. A million people were injured by this reckless action.
